The place

What Newcastle is actually like

The Canadian River forms the north-eastern boundary and the Cleveland County line. The 1923 bridge over it was Oklahoma's first federal aid project, and it is what put Highway 62 through town and started the growth. Ranching and dairy land has been converting to subdivisions since about 1960.

The Planning office closes at 11:30am on Fridays.

Questions

Newcastle

Who issues a building permit in Newcastle?

City of Newcastle Planning and Community Development on (405) 387-4508. Confirm the current requirements with them before you plan around a schedule, because counter hours and submission methods differ across this metro more than people expect.

Do you build in Newcastle?

Yes. Newcastle is about 29 miles south-south-west of Edmond, and distance affects the labour component of a quote rather than whether we will come. Tell us the address and what you are thinking about and we will give you a number.

What does an outdoor kitchen cost in Newcastle?

The planning ranges on this site apply across the OKC metro: an island structure at about $380 to $850 per linear foot before appliances, and a complete 8-foot cook station typically $8,500 to $11,500. Access and distance move the labour line, which is one of the things a site visit settles.

Does the permit rule differ from Edmond?

Newcastle runs its own building department, so its thresholds and its process are its own. The Edmond exemptions described on the permits page are Edmond's, and they do not automatically apply here.
